031 Furrow // Hut # Point

The exhibition Furrow // Hut # Point highlights images and symbols from landscapes in the northern Negev and Gaza Envelope. The works were created by artists who live in the area, who drew their surroundings and responded to the events of the past and the present. Among other things, the exhibition includes a journal of paintings inspired by October 7^th that was made by Iohanan Druker, a member of Kibbutz Be’eri, and ceramics works that the artist Michal Rom salvaged from her home on Kibbutz Re’im.

The idea for the exhibition was conceived during a gathering with residents from the evacuated communities, and also by the members of a documentation delegation from the Ben-Zvi Institute’s Department of Curation and Visual Documentation, who have been working in the Gaza Envelope in the past few months.

Gallery talks will be held with the curator, Dr. Nirit Shalev-Khalifa.

The sessions are part of an open day at the Institute, during which there will also be a farmers market with produce from the south, the Jordan Valley and the north – held in cooperation with the Israeli Agriculture initiative – as well as booths featuring arts & crafts, coffee and flowers for Shabbat.
