126 New Old City

Meeting point: the roundabout on Haim Cohen St. (near Derech Hevron).

What kind of issues do landscape architects have to address when starting to design a high-density residential neighborhood at a site with a rich history? Tours with the landscape architects Rachelle Wiener and Moshe Rucham in a section of Arnona whose zoning plan has not yet been approved. The new neighborhood will consist of hi-rise buildings that are being constructed close to Jerusalem’s ancient aqueduct. Wiener and Rucham will share their thoughts about the challenges they faced, ranging from solutions for waste disposal and infrastructure facilities to the integration of the archaeological site in the middle of the neighborhood.
