53 A Shower of Pines and Roses
A chance to become familiar with the old rose garden located in the heart of the Talbieh neighborhood. Designed in the 1930s, it was recently revamped at the initiative of the Municipality and the Jerusalem Foundation, based on a plan made by the AR(A) landscape architecture firm. Tour participants will be able to enjoy the landscape that consists of trees, rose bushes and the new aquatic plants pool.
The two-hour tour will be led by Yisrael Galon – an agronomist and the former National Forest Ranger and Director of the Flowers and Flora Engineering Division at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Besides the rose garden, the tour will also include the anemone and moon grove. At both sites, Galon will demonstrate how a habitat can create a microclimate, in addition to explaining the practice of forest bathing in Japan.
