71 Tzefania Apartments Hotel

4 Tzefania St., Kerem Avraham neighborhood.

A glimpse of a hotel that was opened by Yocheved Giladi in 1947, located in a building that she and her husband Eliyahu – the first metal worker in the Geula and Mea She’arim neighborhoods – built on land purchased in 1930. In the early years of its operation, it was a hostel for soldiers, and after that a dormitory for nursing students from Hadassah Hospital. The Giladi family lived on the ground floor.

The 18-room hotel is decorated with artifacts from Judaica collections: Hanukkah menorahs, seder plates and old pictures. The original pay phone is still installed in the lobby, and the furniture in the common areas is also original.

During these 45-minute tours led by Gavri Assouline, he will talk about the history of the building and the special guests who stayed at the hotel. He will also share stories about Kerem Avraham residents and the Giladi family, whose history is intertwined with the establishment of the State of Israel.
