67 Behind the Scenes at the Israel Aquarium
The Israel Aquarium, which belongs to the Biblical Zoo and is located next to it, shows visitors how life exists in Israel’s four seas. Because this is the first on-land aquarium built in the country, the need to simulate an aquatic environment posed a considerable challenge when designing it. The aquarium has to produce enough water to enable life in the different tanks, while also maintaining high water quality that ensures a good quality of life for the animals.
Led by Alon Levy, the aquarium director, these behind-the-scenes tours will offer participants a rare glimpse of the support systems that are in place, which extend across roughly 50% of the total area of the aquarium. They will also hear about the planning and operation efforts that go into sustaining thousands of animals4
Tour participants must be at least 15 years old, and all participants must sign up in advance.
