48 Jerusalem in the Eyes of Sagi Nahor

Meeting point: Davidka Square, 72 Jaffa Rd.

A tour dealing with the Jerusalemite, Moshe Avraham Luncz. Even though he was blind, he allegedly knew the city better than anyone else. He even published the first Hebrew travel guidebook to the Land of Israel one hundred years ago, entitled Guide to Palestine and Syria. Luncz was also a tour guide and led tours in Jerusalem for sighted persons.

This 90-minute tour, led by Rafi Kfir from “Ahavat Yerushalayim” (Jerusalem-Love), will follow the itinerary that Luncz created for tourists in Jerusalem, which appears in his guidebook. All along the route, Kfir will talk about the blind tour guide and his geographical and historical undertaking, while illustrating how Luncz described the sites and buildings, as well as the terrain.
