129 And They Built City Blocks 2

Meeting place: the corner of Unterman St. and HaGanenet St., Gilo.

A tour with the architect and architecture researcher, Michael Jacobson, at five of the most unusual city blocks ever designed in Israel, which are located next to each other in the Gilo neighborhood.

This tour continues, but also differs from, the one held during Open House Weekend in 2021. The city blocks were designed in the 1970’s by the architects Ram Karmi, Yaski-Gil-Sivan, Salo Hershman, Moshe Lufenfeld and Giora Gemerman. The 90-minute tour will describe the planning principles and assess whether their values have stood the test of time. Efrat Schneorson-Nechemia, the urban planner of this city quarter on behalf of the Jerusalem Municipality, will also be joining the tour.
