Architects: Hever Architects, 1957

A guided tour of the old National Library, which was considered one of the masterpieces of the International Style in Jerusalem and of public use architecture at the time it was built. This cube-shaped structure floats above the ground floor (inspired by buildings designed by Le Corbusier).

The 75-minute tour will recount the historical story behind the building and its transition from a national repository of knowledge and memory to a space that promotes social action. Participants will hear about the nonprofits, the organizations and the initiatives that work out of the building today. There will also be a discussion about social responsibility and the repurposing of public buildings.

Exhibitions that are part of the Jerusalem Biennale – De Profundis – are currently on display in the building.
