Architect: Zoltan Shimshon Harmat, 1963

This building in Katamon, which dates back to the early 1960s, is unique not only in terms of its shape and design. What also makes it special are the bylaws that are in place, which stipulate that the building’s residents must be at least 60 years old, that pets are not allowed, and that making noise during the midday siesta hours is prohibited. This is not an assisted living facility, but rather a condominium consisting of small apartments, typically one- or one-and-a-half bedrooms, which are suitable for people living on their own or with a partner.

The tours, led by the architect and architecture researcher, Michael Jacobson, will focus on the architectural qualities of the building, including the concrete awnings above the elongated facades, which render it one of the most original Brutalist works in the capital.
