15 My Fair Baka - North
A tour of the northern section of the Baka neighborhood, during which participants will learn about the history of the neighborhood. It was established at the end of the 19th century for Greek Orthodox Arab and Armenian families, who prior to that had lived in the Old City. Baka flourished and developed during the British Mandate period, when homes typical of traditional architecture and the International Style were constructed. While passing by Baka’s stately homes and towering trees, the tour will focus on its construction styles, past and present residents, and history. All along the route, ceramic art works, chiseled inscriptions, stone carvings and modular construction made of concrete will be revealed to the participants.
Led by the Jerusalem tour guide Efrat Assaf, the tour will center on the section of Baka located between Derech Beit Lechem and Park HaMesila (Train Track Park).
