72 Tracing the Human-Centric Revitalization of the Clal Building

The Clal Center – the huge and intriguing building from the 1970s that is located in downtown Jerusalem – has in recent years been undergoing an inspiring transformation. Thanks to its revitalization process, the building was chosen to represent Jerusalem at the Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism that was held in Seoul, Korea in September 2025. It was themed around the question: “how can we make our cities more human-centric?”

This behind-the-scenes tour at the Clal Center will reveal how initiatives related to art, culture, sustainability and community have managed to create a new and human-centric urban space. It will begin on the Jaffa Road street level, continue from there to the ‘depths’ of the cryptic building, and end at the community terrace on the green and blooming roof. Participants will also meet artists who live and work in the building.

The tour will be led by Matan Israeli, an artist and urban healer – and a founder of Muslala, the nonprofit organization that is spearheading the human-centric revitalization of the Clal Center.

The hourlong tour will end at the social kiosk café.
