84 Schatz House
Architect: unknown, 1908-1915
Visits at the home and compound where the Schatz family lived and worked in the 20th century. The 120th anniversary of the Bezalel Academy of Art forms the backdrop to this year’s tours.
The compound is located next to Bezalel – originally called the School of Arts and Crafts that was founded by the head of the family, Prof. Boris Schatz. The compound was also home to Boris’s wife, Dr. Olga Pavzner Schatz, his son and daughter-in-law, Bezalel and Louise, and his daughter Zahara (who later received the Israel Prize for Art).
The house and compound, which are normally closed to the public, will once again be open for the Open House events.
The hourlong tours will be led by Jimmy Levinson who is a scion of the family and the executor of the estate. They will include a brief explanation about the compound, a tour of the house, and a look at some of the works created by the Schatz family.
