65 The Center for Italian Jewry (Schmidt House)
Architect: Theodor Sandel, 1886-1887
The building was built by the German Catholic Society of the Holy Land as a hostel for pilgrims and a school for girls. It is designed in a Neo-Gothic style that also incorporates Renaissance elements. It currently houses the Museum of Italian Jewish Art and the centuries-old Conegliano Synagogue, which was brought here from Italy in 1951.
Visitors will be able to see the museum building and the exquisite old synagogue. The guided tour will also include the 19th century hall that features painted decorations.
An admittance fee will be charged for the galleries.
