Meeting point: Davidka Square, 72 Jaffa Rd.

Tours that trace the life of Itamar Ben-Avi, the son of Devora and Eliezer Ben-Yehuda and the first child who was raised speaking Hebrew. The tours will stop at various sites that were milestones in his life – the Sukkat Shalom neighborhood, Alliance School, Navon House, the Ben-Yehuda family’s home on Ethiopia Street, the Abushdid Residence, and Feingold House. Participants will hear about the different sites and the highly unusual life that Itamar led as the ‘guinea pig’ for the experiment that sought to revive the Hebrew language. As an adult, he worked as a journalist and continued his father’s legacy.

The 90-minute tour will be led by Rafi Kfir from “Ahavat Yerushalayim” (Jerusalem-Love).
