046 Tzefania Apartments Hotel

4 Tzefania St., Kerem Avraham neighborhood

Short tours of a hotel that was opened in 1947 by Yocheved Giladi and her husband Eliyahu, who was the first tinsmith in the Geula and Mea She’arim neighborhoods, on land purchased in 1930. In the initial years of its operation, it was a Soldier’s Home, and after that a hostel for female nursing students from Hadassah Hospital. The family lived on the first floor. The hotel has 18 rooms and is decorated with artifacts from Judaica collections: Hanukkah menorahs, seder plates and old pictures. The original pay phone is still installed in the lobby as are original pieces of furniture in the common areas. The hotel is currently managed by Yocheved’s son, Yitzhak, and her grandson, Assaf, who will lead these 30-minute tours.
