067 From the Moon Grove to Chopin Street

Meeting place: the entrance to the Moon Grove (Hurshat HaYarech) on the corner of HaGdud HaIvri St. and Eli Cohen St.

Urban development processes and public campaigns have redefined the time-honored planning concept of ‘urban nature.’ This tour with Amir Balaban and the landscape architect, Rachelle Wiener, will try and delve into this matter and examine the tangible contexts and issues that make nature, the public space and urbanism interrelated. The tour will start at the urban nature site – Moon Grove – which was the first of its kind to receive legal standing and operate in accordance with statutory guidelines that stipulate the type of development required of it. From there, the tour will continue to the new public space that connects the grove with urban cultural hubs on Chopin Street.
