A self-conducted tour through the open air museum of Armenian ceramics in Jerusalem. It will start with a street gallery talk next to “A Glimpse of Paradise,” which is a mural created by Marie Balian in 2004. Her work opens a window to the second phase in the development of Armenian ceramics that began in the second half of the 20th century and continued until the early 21st century. Following the talk, tour participants will be given a map which they can use to embark on a journey and discover Armenian ceramics on the streets of Jerusalem, where they will also meet with contemporary artisans in their studios.
The session will be led by Dr. Nirit Shalev-Khalifa, a co-curator of the exhibition “A Glimpse of Paradise” at the Rockefeller Museum and an Armenian ceramics researcher at the Ben-Zvi Institute.
